The company has always released iPadOS tablet software and iOS phone software at the same time. However, it may be different for new updates according to the sources. Apple is planning to delay the release of iPadOS 16 by a month after the iOS 16 release. Here are the details.
iPadOS 16 may release a month after iOS 16
Apple might delay the iPadOS 16 release due to the new Stage Manager multitasking system. It is taking a longer time than expected by developers. This delay will make iPadOS 16 closer to the launch of new iPads, which Apple may introduce in October. We could see an iPad Pro with the M2 chip and a faster iPad with a USB-C port.
During the iPadOS 16 beta testing process, users and developers have complained much about the Stage Manager, which is the reason for the delay. In addition to the Stage Manager, there are many new features in iPadOS 16, such as iCloud Shared Photo Library, Messages improvements, proper external display support, Safari upgrades, and more. You can check the features of iOS 16 and iPadOS 16 here.
Mark Gurman said about the delay, “We’ll reserve full judgment for our review this fall, but I hate Stage Manager so far. The piles take up too much room on the screen, and it takes way too much work to place the app windows just so. (One funny beta moment: when you turn on Stage Manager, it instantly forces the Settings app to render at a size it doesn’t support and breaks. Lots of other apps do, too.) When you open a full-screen app, you’re out of Stage Manager, and it’s not obvious how to get back or put things into the piles.”
